I read Mad Priest myself and although I'm not quite that mad, I do have my more insane moments.

I loved his post on the vegans inviting meat eaters to their table in spite of their differences. Meat eaters eating recently dead flesh and worshipping at McDonald's are no problem when it comes to numbers of adherents. I still laugh just thinking about it.colkochhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03432916690101599393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8383701632927065467.post-642686993764254032009-10-25T15:55:41.874-06:002009-10-25T15:55:41.874-06:00I just finished reading something by a remarkable ...I just finished reading something by a remarkable Cistercian abbot from the 50's or 60's. And he insists that martyrs would pray for their persecutors - as did Jesus. And thus, how could saints (who must forgive as Jesus forgave) possibly hold a grudge? Even in heaven, this abbot believes they are praying for their persecutors. If such is the case, it strengthens the "we are ONE" message - immeasurably!

Thank you for this blog. (I followed someone's comment at the Mad Priest's blog - and his link to yours. The Mad Priest certainly wrote recently on how we are all one.)

Peace be with you. I've bookmarked you.TheraPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17684120043427738135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8383701632927065467.post-9456039842444357552009-10-22T19:05:28.071-06:002009-10-22T19:05:28.071-06:00Colleen, I am glad that you are feeling better. He argues that what happened over time is the notion of "ordination" which created a gulf between the laity and the clergy.

Mind you, he was a "traditionalist", ( an Orthodox priest), but his work on this topic was extremely influential on both Orthodox and Catholics, ( he is the primary source for the notion of "the people of God" ecclesiology.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
